Update on Darren

As some of you were aware, Darren underwent emergency surgery a couple of years ago after suffering pain in his lower back.  He managed with residual pain after the operation up until about a month ago, when he could take it no more and sought medical advice.  The advice was that he needed to go back and have more of his disc removed to relieve the pain.

On Tuesday, 8th November Darren underwent further surgery and had more disc removed.  As of this evening (Thursday, 10th November) he is due to be discharged home on Friday morning, which is fantastic news.  He reports little pain now, just boredom and a distaste for hospital food!  We ALL are looking forward to his return to camp, although it will be interesting to see how he goes, as he is not to sit, drive a car, or lift anything more than 1kg for six weeks!  The doctor has also advised no mowing lawns or driving bobcats (his new little toy) for 12-16 weeks.  Fingers crossed he'll survive that long away from it all!
